Trading Standards are aware of the ongoing situation regarding Volkswagen and the latest news that the emission software issue may have affected cars supplied in Europe.
Trading Standards are advising Jersey consumers to keep themselves notified of news on the vehicles affected and carry on driving their vehicles as normal.
There are no suggestions that the cars are in any way unsafe to drive.
If a recall is issued on specific models, owners will be notified. Islanders who purchased their vehicles second-hand or have changed address and not notified the dealership, will need to keep an eye out for any announcements.
Trading Standards will help by posting any details on www.gov.je/recalls. You can register to receive notifications of product recalls and safety warnings by selecting the categories you are interested in and clicking on the instruction to send updates by email.

In relation to questions regarding compensation, while consumers do benefit from statutory rights under the Supply of Goods and Services (Jersey) Law 2009, Trading Standards believe it is premature to consider any possible non-conformity with the contract and associated claims for redress at this time.
Consumers who have any concerns can contact Volkswagen Customer Services on 0800 333666.
