Complaints prompt investigation of police

20 April 2016

The Assistant Minister for Home Affairs, Connétable Deidre Mezbourian, has commissioned an independent investigation of complaints made against the States of Jersey Police by Mr Roy Boschat.

The investigation, which will be conducted by the Police Service of Northern Ireland, follows a case in Jersey’s Royal Court last year.

Connétable Mezbourian said “The Police Service of Northern Ireland have been commissioned as an independent authority to conduct this investigation and we have every confidence that they will do so with high standards of professionalism and objectivity. We will not be able to make any further comment on the details of the investigation until it has been completed.”

Chief Constable of the Police Service of Northern Ireland, George Hamilton QPM, commented “We are undertaking our initial scoping visit, including introductory meetings with the complainant and other relevant parties. There will be no further comment unless directly relevant to the progress of the investigation.”
