The Department for Infrastructure (DfI) is working with local charities to find a Reuse Partner to manage a facility within the future Household Reuse and Recycling Centre at La Collette.
The Department has identified that lots of items in good condition are received at the Household Recycling Centre at Bellozanne. Although some items are re-homed by customers, lots are either recycled or processed as waste if a recycling outlet is unavailable.
New facility
To address this, the Department has included a Reuse Facility within its plans for the Household Reuse and Recycling Centre which is scheduled to open at La Collette in November 2016 and has invited all local charities to find out more about the opportunity at an event on 23 February 2016.
Deputy Eddie Noel, Minister for DfI, said ‘Reuse has an important role to play in reducing the Island’s waste and keeping recycling efficient. Jersey’s charities are already experts in reuse and so we are looking for a Reuse Partner to work with us to ensure that the reusable items we receive find a second home.’
If any local charities are interested to find out more about this opportunity but have not received an invitation to the information event, please contact the Recycle for Jersey Team: email recycle@gov.je or call 445509.
