Provisional GCSE results published today show that Jersey students have performed very well compared to their English counterparts. Jersey students achieved 76.8% of examinations at grades A* - C compared to 66.6% in England.
Data released today shows the proportion of higher grades locally - those at A* and A
- is up on last year from 28% to 29.5%. This is significantly higher than England which is 20.3%.
The Education Department will be producing a detailed statistical report on Island-wide GCSE performance later in the academic year. This includes value added measures which track the progress made by individual pupils from the end of primary school.
Education Minister Rod Bryans said "Our students, parents and schools should be very pleased with these results. There is no doubt the hard work of the students, the fine work of the teachers and the heartfelt support of the parents have deeply contributed to these results. They can now contemplate their future with real confidence. Well done to all involved.”
This year a total of 988 students sat a total of 8,985 GCSE examinations in the Island. These figures include GCSE examinations taken in all Jersey secondary schools.

Once appeals and re-marks have been completed, individual secondary schools will publish adjusted results after the autumn half term. These more accurate figures will be posted by each school on their websites and will include relevant contextual information.
