Following a recruitment process for the post of Head of Service – External Relations, Ms Kate Nutt has been appointed to the position.
Ms Nutt was responsible for setting up the Government of Jersey’s London office and has already established strong links with Jersey and the External Relations Ministry, as well as with the Chief Minister’s Department and other Government Ministers and officers. Ms Nutt was originally recruited from the UK Civil Service, where she held a number of key posts in central government departments.
The External Relations Minister, Senator Philip Bailhache, said “I am delighted that Ms Nutt has accepted the position as she has many years’ experience working at a high level with officials in the United Kingdom government and through her work in the London office has already established a good understanding of Jersey's special relationships with the UK and the EU.
“Ms Nutt and the team will support the Minister of External Relations and other Ministers who deal regularly with international matters, including engagement with the UK government and the European Union, and work to support the Island’s economic development objectives. At a time when Jersey is facing so many challenges externally, it is essential that Ministers have the support of a strong Ministry for External Relations."
The appointment was overseen by the Jersey Appointments Commission.
