Senators Routier and Bailhache have welcomed the publication today (29 April 2016) of the Jersey Law Commission’s consultation paper Improving Administrative Redress in Jersey.
The Commission is seeking views on its proposed reforms to the Island’s administrative redress system.
Assistant Chief Minister and Chair of the Access to Justice Advisory Panel, Senator Paul Routier MBE, said “The Access to Justice Advisory Panel welcomes this consultation. The Panel has previously noted the work of the Jersey Law Commission on access to administrative justice. This consultation is an opportunity for all members of the public to give their views on the Jersey Law Commission’s proposed recommendations. The Chief Minister and I encourage as many members of the public as possible to take this opportunity and we look forward to considering the final recommendations of the Jersey Law Commission following the consultation process. I hope that it will start an important conversation within the Island as to how to improve administrative redress, including access to justice in Jersey.”
Chair of the Legislation Advisory Panel, Senator Sir Philip Bailhache, commented “The Chief Minister and the Legislation Advisory Panel continue to support the work of the Jersey Law Commission in keeping Jersey’s law under review with the aim of simplifying and modernising it. The Commission is to be commended for this important piece of work.”
