Islanders are being asked for their views on proposed sites for new bus shelters are being proposed at a number of bus stops around the island.
The Department for Infrastructure has identified the following six locations for new shelters:
- St Catherine, near the Breakwater Cafe
- Victoria Road at Grasett Park eastbound
- Rozel, Brecque du Sud
- Route des Quennevais, northbound outside Communicare
- Route des Quennevais, northbound at Belle Vue
- Avenue de la Commune opposite Lakeside Residential Home

DfI has now installed shelters at over 50 bus stops to improve the bus travel for passengers. 45 have been constructed since 2010 and more are installed each year with further locations currently being worked on.
Bus travel is becoming more popular as the service improves. Having seen significant increases in 2013 and 2014, the trend has continued with passenger numbers 6.6% higher during 2015 and a further year-on-year increase of 3.5% in the first four months of 2016.
This year, LibertyBus is providing a summer service with even more passenger capacity. Operated by double deck vehicles which offer passengers amazing views of Jersey’s west coast, a key enhancement is to service 22, which now links L’Etacq and St Ouen’s Bay with Corbiere, Jersey Airport and St Helier. As with the established 15 route, bus users on service 22 will benefit from the proposed new shelters on Route des Quennevais.
Minister for Infrastructure Deputy Eddie Noel, said “Shelters at bus stops play an important role in improving the public transport network. Passengers appreciate them and are much more likely to make use of bus services where we are able to provide them. I am pleased that these six new sites for shelters have been identified and I will be announcing more sites later in the year.”
