The Taxes Office issued nearly 12,000 notices of assessment in October with balances to pay by 6pm on Friday 9 December. Late payers face an extra charge of 10%.
Assistant Comptroller of Taxes, Chris Le Breton, said “The majority of people pay their taxes and Long-Term Care contribution on time. But around 3,000 people still have an outstanding balance which will be surcharged if not paid.
“It’s quick and simple to pay online using a debit card. Any cheques must be in our hands by 6pm this coming Friday – ‘it’s in the post’ is not an acceptable excuse.”
Last year nearly 700 people missed the deadline and were charged an extra 10%.
