14 July 2017
The Minister for Home Affairs, Deputy Kristina Moore, has announced her intention to appoint Mr Rob Bastable as Acting Chief Officer of the States of Jersey Police, with effect from 31 July 2017. The Minister also intends to appoint Mr Julian Blazeby as Acting Deputy Chief Officer from the same date.
Mr Bastable currently serves as the Deputy Chief Officer with responsibility for operational policing and Mr Blazeby is Director, Major Investigations, for the Independent Police Complaints Commission.
These interim appointments are required to meet operational policing needs and ensure the continuation of a robust command structure in the run-up to the full retirement of Mr Mike Bowron as Chief Officer on 31 October 2017.
Minister for Home Affairs said “I am very pleased to confirm my intention to make these interim appointments in order to ensure a robust command structure is maintained prior to the retirement of the current Chief Officer. Rob and Julian are very experienced senior officers and I look forward to working with them in the coming months.”
The Minister’s report to the States Assembly, which confirms her intention to make these interim appointments, will be on the States Assembly website next week.
