Drop-in session for St Clement's Schools safer routes

12 April 2017

The Department for Infrastructure and St Clement Parish are holding a drop-in session on Thursday 20 April for people to find out more about plans to improve the pedestrian and cycling routes to the parish's schools.

Members of the public are invited to the session at Good Companions Club from 6pm to 7pm on Thursday 20 April.

Details of the proposals will be available for viewing and officers will be on hand to answer questions and listen to comments.

Over half of the students walk or cycle to school and most of these are from Le Marais and Le Squez areas. The school travel plan for the Le Squez neighbourhood to the west has been identified as having safety concerns.

The department and parish have worked together with the school to develop a scheme to make the route safer and to encourage greater active travel which helps reduce traffic congestion and contribute to improved student health.

The proposals are to provide speed reducing features at the junctions of:

  • La Rue du Pontlietaut with La Rue de la Croix
  • La Rue de Samarés with La Rue de la Croix.

They would also make La Rue de Maupertuis a no-through road

Further information is available on the consultation page.
