Following the execution of a search warrant at a
restaurant in St Helier last week, Jersey Customs and Immigration Service
(JCIS) officers arrested an illegal immigrant. The person concerned is a 27
year-old Bangladeshi man, who travelled to the Island earlier this year from
the UK, where he had previously been living illegally. Subsequent to his
arrest, the man has claimed asylum and is currently being held at La Moye Prison.
JCIS investigations into this matter are ongoing and, for the time being, there
will be no further comment regarding this case.
