Drop-in session for proposed safer routes to St Clement's Schools

21 March 2017

The Department for Infrastructure (DfI) and the Parish of St Clement are holding a drop-in session on Wednesday 22 March so people can find out more about plans to improve the pedestrian and cycling routes to the St Clement’s schools.

Members of the public are invited to the drop-in session at Le Rocquier School from 3pm to 5.30pm on Wednesday 22 March.

Information banners providing details of the proposals will be available for viewing and officers will be on hand to answer questions and listen to comments.

Over half of the students walk or cycle to school and most of these are from Le Marais and Le Squez areas.

The school travel plan from the Le Squez neighbourhood to the west has been identified as having safety concerns.

DfI have worked with the Parish of St Clement and the schools to develop a scheme to make the route safer and to encourage greater active travel which helps reduce traffic congestion and contribute to improved student health.

The proposals are to provide speed reducing features at the junctions of La Rue du Pontlietaut with La Rue de la Croix and La Rue de Samares with La Rue de la Croix and making La Rue de Maupertuis a no through road.
