A joint meeting has been held in Jersey today (27 February 2017) between Jersey’s Minister and Assistant Minister for Home Affairs and the Members of Guernsey’s Committee for Home Affairs. A previous meeting was held in Guernsey in July 2016.
Topics under discussion included Brexit matters that are relevant to the Home Affairs portfolio, policy developments in both Bailiwicks, and potential areas for coordinating service delivery between the Islands.
Jersey’s Minister for Home Affairs, Deputy Kristina Moore, commented “I am delighted to welcome Deputy Mary Lowe and the Members of the Home Affairs Committee to Jersey for these important discussions. Jersey and Guernsey already enjoy a strong relationship within Home Affairs and have many existing programmes of joint working in place. This has been a valuable opportunity to exchange more policy ideas and further enhance the cooperation between us.”
The President of Guernsey’s Committee for Home Affairs, Deputy Mary Lowe, commented “The States of Guernsey approved the Policy and Resource Plan which recognised that a priority must be the importance of keeping the Island as a safe and secure place to live and do business. The Committee for Home Affairs is very happy to have the opportunity to discuss how we can work together to deliver efficient and effective public safety services and other matters of potentially high impact to the Islands such as Brexit."
