Jersey has achieved the highest A-level results for years, with our young people achieving a higher pass rate compared to England, early results findings published today reveal.
The overall pass rate for Jersey’s A-level results is 99.0 per cent, which is in line with 2017, and above the 97.6 per cent pass rate for England.
In 2018, 61.1 per cent of entries resulted in grades A*, A or B, compared to 56.3 per cent in 2017. Grades at A* and A accounted for 31.1 per cent of all results compared to 26.2 per cent in England.
This year a total of 488 Jersey pupils were entered for 1317 A-level examinations.

Pupils who took the International Baccalaureate (IB) this year have achieved a 97% pass rate, with scores above the worldwide average; another really good year for this qualification in Jersey.

I would like to thank the teachers, parents and carers who have encouraged and supported our students during these two years of hard and dedicated work.
“I wish you well in your endeavours, whatever they may be. You are valued members of our community and we want everyone, regardless of background, to be able to fulfil their potential. I wish you all good luck in whatever you choose to do next as you follow your dreams and ambitions.
“The pathways through study and training to employment are not the same for everyone, and help and advice is available. Teachers, careers advisers and parents can offer good advice and support on the options available to you.”
Students going on to higher education should now contact their universities as soon as possible to confirm places. Students who did not achieve the grades they were expecting, either higher or lower, should contact the careers teacher at their school or college, or the Skills Jersey Careers Advice and Guidance Team, which is open Monday to Friday between 8.30am and 5.00pm on +44 (0)1534 449440.
