Resurfacing work on La Grande Route de St Clement begins on Monday 23 July. It will start by Samares Manor, and continue toward Le Rocquier School over the school summer holidays.
This is the first phase of Growth, Housing and Environment’s resurfacing of La Grande Route de St Clement, which will continue during the Autumn Half Term with the section between Manor Close and Plat Douet Road. The remaining section, outside Samares Nurseries Housing Development, will be resurfaced when the housing development is nearing completion, before the homes are occupied.
The programme of work has taken into account the heavy use of the road during term time. There will be road closures on weekdays between 9am and 11pm. The road will be fully open at the weekend and on Bank Holidays, but this may change depending on delays caused by wet weather.
The work will be done in three short phases to maintain access to premises, however access will be disrupted when the final road surface is being laid.
This project will be disruptive, however the work is much needed as some sections of this road were last resurfaced thirty-one years ago. Main diversion routes will be via Rue a Don, between Ville es Renauds and Georgetown, and the Coast Road, between Ville es Renauds and Millard’s Corner.
Buses will continue to operate, and access to Samares Manor will be maintained throughout this section of the work.
