Jersey now accepts driving licences from 17 more countries to exchange for Jersey licences without the need for taking the local test.
People who have taken up permanent residency in Jersey and who are in possession of driving licences from the following countries, may now go to their parish hall and apply for their licence to be exchanged for a Jersey one:
Andorra | Bulgaria | Canada | Estonia | Faroe Islands |
Greece | Hungary | Japan | Lithuania | Luxembourg |
Slovakia | Slovenia | South Africa | South Korea | Spain |
Sweden | Zimbabwe | | | |
Whilst, Jersey is prepared to recognise these foreign driving licences for exchange, there is no reciprocal agreement and these countries will not recognise Jersey driving licences for exchange in their country.
However, the Driver and Vehicle Standards Office does, have 35 reciprocal agreements already in place and these can be found on the applying for or renewing a driving licence webpage.
