The Department for Infrastructure (DfI) will be starting the final phase of highway maintenance work in St Peter’s Valley next week.
The extent of the work will be from Tesson Chapel through to approximately 340m south of the junction of Mont du Presbytere/La Vallee de St Pierre.
Also included will be the section of highway north of Granite Products through to approximately 40m north of The Elms.
Work will start on Tuesday 29 May at 6pm and should be completed by Friday 22 June. The times and exact location of work will vary.
Further information regarding times and dates are available on the St Peter's Valley road resurfacing project.
To enable the work to be undertaken in a safe and efficient manner, the majority of the work will be undertaken using full road closures. For each phase of the work, a detailed diversion route will be provided.
The maintenance work will involve the provision of a surface called Microasphalt (MA) which will be laid directly on top of the existing road surface. This surface treatment has been completed successfully on a number of projects throughout Jersey:
- Green Road in St Clement
- a section of La Route D'Ebenezer in Trinity
- Mont Cochon in St Helier
The contractor undertaking the work is Eurovia Ltd who have over 30 years’ experience working in the highway industry.
The key advantages in adopting this form of surface treatment are:
- speed of construction is significantly quicker when compared to alternative forms of resurfacing
- highly cost effective solution when compared to other forms of surface treatment
This has enabled St Peters Valley and St Aubins Road to be resurfaced from Rue de Galet to the Elms.
Access to premises will be maintained at all times other than those days when surfacing work is being undertaken.
