Resurfacing work starts on Sunday 7 January on La Route de St Aubin from the junction with Mont Felard, continuing west towards Bel Royal.
This is the first phase of the Department for Infrastructure’s St Peter’s Valley resurfacing project, which runs until June 2018 (with a break in April).
Working times have been set to take account of the heavy usage of the road. Road closures will only happen on Sundays and on weekday evenings, otherwise work will be undertaken off-peak with temporary traffic lights in place.
Resurfacing will start on Sunday 7 January from 8am to 8pm at the junction of St Aubin’s Inner Road, Mont Felard and Rue de Galet.
Although these junctions will be closed, access to premises along Rue de Galet and Mont Felard will be maintained but may be via local diversion routes.
The Inner Road itself will remain open to east and westbound traffic on Sunday but there will be traffic lights in place.
Work will progress into the next section from Rue de Haut to Roberts Garage under traffic lights during weekdays, with possible closures in the evenings and on future Sundays.
Most of the work will be undertaken during the following hours:
- Monday – Friday 9.15am – 3pm (traffic lights)
- Monday – Friday 7pm – 11pm (road closures)
- Sundays 8am – 8pm (road closures)
Working hours will be extended with weekday road closures once the work is north of Mont Fallu.
There will also be a 24/7 full closure for the work between Sandybrook Lane and Tesson Mill during February Half Term.
Although this project will be disruptive to the travelling public, the work is much needed with roads between 17 and 40 years old.
Some sections of the road, which are not in as bad condition as others, will receive surface treatment to enhance and prolong their service lives.
