Following the death of the States of Jersey Police Chief Officer, Rob Bastable, the Minister for Home Affairs, Connétable Len Norman, has made the following statement:
“Deputy Guida and I were deeply saddened to hear the news of Rob’s passing on Saturday.
Rob was greatly respected by all his colleagues in the Police and across Home Affairs. He was a thoroughly decent man, a true gentleman with a strong work ethic and excellent sense of humour.
"He had a caring and kind manner, and was a pleasure to work with. Jersey has lost a highly skilled and professional public servant.
"Rob bore his illness with tremendous spirit, dignity and courage. The thoughts of all the staff in Home Affairs are with Rob’s family, friends and colleagues at this very difficult time.
We will remember him fondly and miss him greatly.”
