The Government has appointed Sir Mark Boleat to the Board of Andium Homes as an independent Non-Executive Director, with the intention that he acts as Chair.
Sir Mark, former Chairman of the States of Jersey Development Company, will take up his post on 1 November, following the departure of the outgoing Chair, Frank Walker.
Sir Mark’s priorities will be to lead the process to recruit a new Chair, and to other independent director roles, to ensure good governance in the Government-owned company. He will remain in post for a maximum of 12 months or until a suitable long-term Chair is identified, whichever is sooner. He will not be putting himself forward for any long-term role on Andium’s Board.
Sir Mark will be paid £40,000 a year (less if his term is shorter than 12 months) and his appointment was approved by the Jersey Appointments Commission.
Chief Minister, Senator John Le Fondré, said: “I am pleased that Sir Mark will be bringing his extensive property and board experience to Andium. He has an impressive reputation and will provide a steadying influence in the Board, following months of dispute with the Government over executive pay.”
Senator Sam Mézec, Minister for Children and Housing, spoke to Sir Mark Boleat yesterday about his new role as Independent Director on the Andium Board. The Minister is pleased that Sir Mark is absolutely committed to bringing forward new supply of affordable homes and is aligned to the Minister’s view that the recent issues should have no effect on prospective tenants and first-time buyers.
