Project management team appointed for Our Hospital project

An international construction and consultancy company behind the delivery of the 2012 London Olympics and the building of Western Europe’s tallest tower has been appointed to oversee and run the Our Hospital project.

Mace, who will run the Project Management Office (PMO), will manage all aspects of the delivery, working with designers and architects, delivery partners and contractors. The company will ensure that the construction and delivery of the hospital runs as efficiently as possible.

Mace has a strong track record as PMO in the successful completion of major healthcare and international developments, ensuring projects have been delivered on time and within budget.  Its portfolio includes being one of the delivery partners for the 2012 London Olympics, the building of The Shard and the London Eye.

Mace, whose contract with the Government is worth £742,085, also delivered the UK’s first proton beam therapy centre at the Christie Hospital in Manchester.

Although the size, shape and location of the new hospital is yet to be determined, Mace will be working as part of the Our Hospital Project Team in Jersey to guide the process as efficiently as possible.

Assistant Minister for Health and Community Services Deputy Hugh Raymond said: "With the Our Hospital project being such a large-scale programme, strategic management of the operation is needed and we are therefore delighted with the appointment of Mace. They have the capacity, capability and the international experience to run this project, while also the desire to work with local partners to deliver this project.

"To have a PMO on board with Mace’s experience and track record is a significant step forward for the Our Hospital Project. The PMO will be the engine room of the operation, driving it forward, and bringing together all of the various components needed to deliver Jersey’s new hospital."
