Barclay’s ‘Brewtech and Foodtech Frenzy’ event will illustrate and educate how technology is being introduced to the £8.7 trillion industry and how it can be utilised locally.
Nicolle Maltwood, the Lab’s Ecosystem Manager said: “This event will offer an exciting opportunity for industry professionals, as well as members of the public, who are interested in learning how technology is being utilised in various aspects of production. New technology has developed and improved traditional work practices in areas such as agriculture, brewing and distillery and it will be a fascinating insight into how this is achieved.”
Industry experts from the UK and Jersey will show examples of how technology has helped the manufacture of market products.
Barclay’s engineer from Brighton Eagle Lab, Jon Paterson will be visiting to discuss the ‘Agritech’ sector and his research since visiting Jersey. Mr Paterson said: “Jersey is a unique place which harnesses its famous resources, such as the Jersey Royal, within a global market. What seems to be emerging are more independent micro-breweries, we want to showcase the tech that is already on offer to support these small businesses”.
The event will begin at 18.30, Wednesday 24 April. Admission is free but booking is essential. To reserve a place please visit Event Brite website.
