Schools COVID-19 update

The Department for Children Young People, Education and Skills has been advised of the following Covid-19 cases in schools and colleges from 14 December: 

A student at Jersey College for Girls has tested positive for Covid-19 on Friday, 11 December 2020.

 

This student is currently isolating at home, along with the rest of their household following the public health guidance. 

 

Parents of direct contacts have been asked to keep their child at home, isolating as a precautionary measure, to allow the track and trace process to be completed.

A member of staff at Hautlieu School has tested positive for Covid-19 on Monday, 14 December 2020.

 

This person is isolating at home following the public health guidance. 

 

The school has contacted parents and direct contacts have been asked to self-isolate, as a precautionary measure, to allow the track and trace process to be completed.

A year-group has been asked to learn from home from Tuesday, 15 December 2020.

Meanwhile another year-group at Hautlieu School who were isolating at home last week are due to return to school tomorrow.

A student at Samarés School has tested positive for Covid-19 on Monday 14, December 2020.

This student is currently isolating at home, along with the rest of their household following the public health guidance. 

 

Parents of the year-group have been asked to keep their child at home from 15 December, isolating as a precautionary measure, to allow the track and trace process to be completed.

Three classes at Plat Douet School will continue to be temporarily closed until Thursday, 16 December, due to staff shortages.

Parents have been informed and online learning will continue for these students. 

A year-group at Le Rocquier School will learn from home on Tuesday, 14 December 2020 due to a shortage of staff.

Parents have been contacted and informed that they will be updated directly by the school if there are any changes through the week. The year-group will remain open for children of essential workers and vulnerable children.

Students have been provided with online learning and some lessons will continue via video link.

St Saviour’s School Nursery will re-open, part-time from Tuesday, 15 December 2020.

The Nursery is unable to open full-time due to a shortage of staff, however they wanted to ensure that the children have some opportunities to attend before the end of term. 

The impact of staffing means that they can’t open up the Nursery full-time, but will open from 8.30am – 12.30pm. 

A year-group at Les Quennevais School will return to school tomorrow after a period in self-isolation. 

Meanwhile, two year-groups at Les Quennevais School have been advised to continue to isolate while the Track and Trace process is complete.

Parents have been contacted and informed that they will be updated directly by the school if there are any changes throughout the week.

 

In cases above where “further action” is required, the schools contact parents and the class bubbles to ask that they isolate at home, as a precautionary measure, to allow the track and trace process to be completed.

In cases where “no action” is required it means that the student or staff member has not attended school for a number of days and as a result no further action will be taken by the contact tracing team and students can remain in school. 

All schools and colleges will remain open following advice from Environmental and Public Health.

We are committed to supporting our students who have been affected by the pandemic. Students who have to be at home due to Public Health guidelines will continue to receive schoolwork online so they can continue with their education.
