Jobseeking event at Jersey Library

Islanders who may have lost their jobs as a result of COVID-19 can access support as part of the latest Closer to Home event. The event - which will take place at the Town Library on Tuesday 22 September between 6pm and 8pm – is free of charge and open to everyone. 

Closer to Home brings together Government services and community and voluntary groups to offer advice and support in a range of locations across the Island to make it easier for Islanders to access the help they need. 

A range of organisations will be available to provide wellbeing and jobseeking support, including:

Staff from Back to Work will be available to provide information and advice for people who are searching for jobs. There will also be workshops and presentations, including on sessions on CV-writing and interview skills. These sessions are free, but booking is essential. 

Dr Patricia Tumelty, Executive Director of Mind Jersey, said: “Mind Jersey are delighted to launch their ‘stories from lockdown’ project at this Closer to Home community event: we know that people of all ages benefit from having a safety net, and signposting, to support their mental health and wellbeing.”

Head of Local Services, Paul McGinnety, said: “We’re working collectively with Income Support, Pensions, Long-Term Care and Back to work as well as over 19 other organisations from the voluntary and community sectors to deliver this event.

 
“We know from previous sessions that bringing together these services in one place, in a relaxed setting makes it easier for people to ask for the advice and information that they need.”
