âFollowing an independent assessment in October 2020, the Law Officersâ Department has been awarded Lexcel accreditation for âexcellence in practice management and client careâ for the second year running.
Lexcel assessor, Tracy Thompson, concluded in her report that, âthe departmentâs approach to client care is excellent. Files are very well managed and the Directors should be proud that employees recognise that their colleagues often go over and above the expected standard of care when dealing with client departments.â
Mrs Thompson highlighted twelve areas of good practice in her report and five suggestions for best practice. Commenting on the Departmentâs response to the Covid-19 pandemic, Mrs Thompson said: âthe organisation has adapted extremely well to the current Coronavirus crisis and has executed their business continuity plan very well.â
Mrs Thompson singled out âpeople managementâ as an area with a particularly high number of areas of good practice, commenting that she found âthe Department being led exceptionally wellâ and that she âwas pleased to hear during the course of the interviews of the supportive team spirit within the Department and of there being a truly supportive team culture.â Mrs Thompson reported that she âwas pleased to hear from employees who recently joined the Department about the robust interview processâ and concluded from her interviews that âthe Department demonstrates an inspiring approach to promoting learning and self-development.â
Attorney General, Mark Temple QC said: âI am very grateful to each member of the Departmentâs staff for their hard work and dedication to client service which has been evidenced in this report. Achieving Lexcel accreditation for the second year is a tremendous accolade and demonstrates that the Law Officersâ Department is operating to the highest standards as determined by an external, independent assessor."
