A Government of Jersey spokesperson said:
“There have been 24 calls regarding support and safeguarding to the Children and Families Hub, since it opened last Monday.
“The Hub is part of our aim to help families by making sure that they get the right help at the right time. This means that any families can get help before their difficulties become overwhelming.
“The Hub has been opened to deal with a variety of issues and challenges that families face. For example, perhaps a family needs advice on managing a child’s needs, or maybe a family is finding it difficult to cope with relationships or financial difficulties.
“While the Hub will not be able to advise on all issues, it will be able to provide some advice or signposting, as well as looking to find a lead worker for a family that needs one. It will also respond to any safeguard concerns about a child or young person.
“Some children will be more vulnerable during this period and it is imperative that we do all we can together to ensure these children are safe. We are relying on the public to help be our eyes and ears in the community and put children first. Professionals need to refer children and young people as they normally would.”
