The Government of Jersey has received more than 20,000 responses to the Household Health Survey since its launch on 9 April 2020. The survey – which was introduced to establish a picture of the health of Islanders in relation to COVID-19 – has now closed.
The survey was originally launched to complement on-Island COVID-19 testing. However, now that the Government has launched expanded testing and monitoring programmes as part of its efforts to contain the spread of COVID-19, the Household Health Survey can now be safely closed.
Of those who took part in the survey:
Around 3,000 reported symptoms, with the most common being a sore throat, aches and pains, and general weakness
Around 1,000 reported having a fever
Just under 1,300 reported having a cough
Minister for Health and Social Services, Deputy Richard Renouf, said: “I’m delighted that so many households took part in the survey, which has been one of the many ways that Islanders have played their part in responding to the pandemic.
"While not all the reported symptoms will be caused by COVID-19, the survey helps to validate the other data available to us and has informed our understanding of coronavirus in Jersey. Through our expanded testing, contact tracing and monitoring programmes, we can be confident that we have the right arrangements in place to support our safe exit plans.”
