28 April 2020
The Jersey Fire and Rescue Service (JFRS) will be carrying out a number of essential training exercises from Wednesday 29 April – Saturday 2 May at La Moye Prison.
We are advising the public in advance that there is no cause for alarm should they see the JFRS activity or smoke at the Prison during this period.
The exercises will be taking place in one of the derelict blocks within the prison prior to its demolition as part of the Prison redevelopment project. The JFRS will not be coming into direct contact with any prisoners or States of Jersey Prison Service Officers ensuring that COVID-19 restrictions are followed.
Essential training of this nature provides firefighters with vital skills and real life like scenarios using breathing apparatus and other equipment ensuring that they fully prepared and trained to tackle incidents when they occur to protect Islanders.
