On 13 July, the Minister for External Relations from the Government of Jersey, Senator Ian Gorst, will host a webinar on growth and partnership opportunities between the United Arab Emirates (UAE) and Jersey. The UAE Ambassador to the United Kingdom, His Excellency Mansoor Abulhoul, will join Senator Gorst to discuss the UAE’s plans for post-COVID economic recovery.
The webinar – the first of its kind hosted by the Government of Jersey – will support Jersey’s plan to establish new international partnerships and create a sustainable, vibrant economy for the future. It will offer attendees the opportunity to ask His Excellency questions.
Jersey already has close ties with the UAE: both Jersey Finance and several financial services companies have offices in the UAE, with many other companies regularly visiting the market.
The panel of speakers at the webinar include Joe Moynihan, CEO Jersey Finance; Richard Teng, CEO ADGM; Tony Moretta, CEO Digital Jersey; Arif Amiri, CEO DIFC; Marwan Alzahrouni, CEO Dubai Blockchain Centre; Saleh Abdullah Lootah, Chairman of the Food & Beverage Manufacturing Group (under Dubai Chamber); and Graeme Smith, CEO Jersey Business.
UAE Ambassador to the UK, His Excellency Mansoor Adulhoul, said: “I am delighted to have the opportunity to discuss the post-COVID agenda with our good friends in Jersey. We are looking forward to seizing the opportunities of recovery and deepening our co-operation with a like-minded partner.”
Jersey’s Minister for External Relations, Senator Ian Gorst, said: “While COVID-19 has provided many economic challenges, both in Jersey and elsewhere, we are now in a position to consider how we can help our economy recover.
“Part of that recovery is strengthening and developing our international partnerships. I’m grateful to His Excellency for offering his time to give Jersey stakeholders the opportunity to discuss how we can work together more closely in future.”
