The Chief Minister, Senator John Le Fondré and Minister for External Relations, Senator Ian Gorst are today meeting politicians from across Britain and Ireland to discuss the ongoing recovery from COVID-19.
The 35th Summit of the British Irish Council (BIC) will meet today at Lough Erne Resort in Northern Ireland. Ministers will discuss how COVID-19 has impacted Jersey and other BIC jurisdictions, and how they have responded to the economic and health challenges of the pandemic.
The Chief Minister will thank members of BIC for their governments' co-operation in managing vaccination status certification. He will also reiterate Jersey's commitment to working with the UK Government to implement the UK-EU Trade and Cooperation agreement.
Chief Minister, Senator John Le Fondré, said: "I welcome the opportunity to learn more about how other members have responded to COVID-19, and highlight Jersey's achievements in keeping Islanders safe, and our economy robust."
Minister for External Relations, Senator Ian Gorst, said: "It's vital that we continue to work closely with our colleagues in the British Irish Council. The COVID-19 pandemic has demonstrated that many jurisdictions face similar challenges, and this Summit is an opportunity to learn from others, and to share Jersey's successes."
