Following last week's announcement that up to 50 people may attend a wedding reception in a private garden from Stage 6, the Minister for Health and Social Services, Deputy Richard Renouf has approved further amendments to the COVID-19 gatherings and events guidance.
From Monday 10 May, when Jersey enters Stage 6 of the Reconnection Roadmap, 50 people can attend a marriage ceremony or wedding reception in a private garden (a garden which has not been offered for hire on a commercial basis). This includes within marquees in private gardens.
An unlimited number of people can attend a marriage ceremony or wedding reception in an organised and controlled indoor or outdoor venue. Venues would include a garden or land that is commercially hired, or more permanently established venues such as hotels.
Guidance relating to the use of marquees has been updated to facilitate the further easing of restrictions.
From Monday 10 May, a marquee will be considered an open-air space if half its sides are open to the air. Masks do not need to be worn by guests in an open-air marquee where two or more sides are open.
In a marquee which is not classed as open-air:
- guests are recommended to wear masks, except when eating or drinking, if the marquee is in a private garden
- guests are required by law to wear masks, except when eating or drinking, if the marquee is in any other location
Children aged under 4 years old do not count within the 50-person limit.
