The States of Jersey Prison Service (SoJPS) is currently recruiting for Operational Prison Officers and this weekend, will be hosting an open stand in the town centre for potential applicants to come and find out more.
The stand will be in Broad Street from 09.00-12.00 on Saturday 10 July, and will be managed by two serving prison officers, who will be able to provide further information on the roles available and answer any questions that potential recruits may have.
The service is looking to attract a number of new recruits, who will all receive full training on-island to become part of the team responsible for the 150 prisoners, approximately, that the prison has at any one time.
Prison Governor, Susie Richardson, said: "I'm really keen to attract a diverse pool of candidates who will be both passionate about upholding the standards of the States of Jersey Prison Service, but also providing a high level of quality care for our prisoners.
"At the forefront of the service, is the priority to reintegrate prisoners back into the community using evidence based research from across the world, to ensure that our rates of reoffending are kept at a minimum. Prison officers are key members of the team that work hard to achieve this, and I'm really keen to attract islanders who genuinely want to be part of that important journey.
"I strongly encourage anyone who is looking for a change in career, and would like a job where they truly make a difference each day to come along and have a chat to the officers at the stand on Saturday."
