Islanders who have received two doses of a COVID-19 vaccine will start to receive their COVID Status Certification in the post from today, Wednesday 9 June.
By Friday 11 June, COVID Status Certificates will be sent to all Islanders who have received their second dose of the vaccine on or before Friday 28 May. Anyone fully vaccinated after Friday 28 May, should receive their certificate in the post, within two weeks of their second dose being administered.
While the certificates will not be a legal requirement for any activity or service in Jersey, they may be used as proof of your vaccination status when travelling abroad. Countries are regularly updating their travel policies so Islanders must check all the entry requirements of their destination country.
Islanders that are fully vaccinated and travelling back to Jersey will not need to show their certificate on arrival but can enter their Social Security Number in the pre-travel registration form before arriving in Jersey, to enable the automatic verification process.
Chief Minister, Senator John le Fondré, said: "The COVID Status Certifications will give Islanders secure proof of their vaccination status. They have been designed with various security features and unique reference numbers to ensure validity and avoid forgery.
"We know the COVID Status Certification it is a requirement for some travel, although policies are always being updated. It is advised that those who are fully vaccinated should travel with their certificate, but it will not be needed to return to the Island.
"The success of the Vaccination Programme has helped us get to a stage where reconnection is as close to normal as we have been in over a year. It continues to prove that it is reducing the incidence of severe illness and hospitalisation. I urge everyone who is eligible to book and receive their vaccine and to not waste the privileged position we, as a small jurisdiction, find ourselves in."
