Feel Good campaign to support winter wellbeing

05 February 2021

Over the next six weeks charities and organisations, in partnership with Government, will be raising awareness and sharing ideas on how to ‘Feel Good’ as the end of winter approaches.

The social media led campaign will include helpful content from partners across the community sector in Jersey who offer services to help Islanders better look after their physical and mental wellbeing including: Mind Jersey, Jersey Library, Jersey Recovery College, the Listening Lounge, Citizens Advice Jersey, MacMillan Jersey, Jersey Youth Service, Caring Cooks, Jersey Mencap and Beresford Street Kitchen.

Members of the public are encouraged to create and share their own social media content to inspire and offer advice to others using the hashtag #feelgoodjersey and posting their tips for wellbeing in the Island Time Facebook group.

The Minister for Health and Social Services, Deputy Richard Renouf said: “The Feel Good campaign will celebrate the variety of ways Islanders are keeping themselves active and well.

“For many Islanders, this winter has felt particularly long and together we have faced the challenges of COVID-19 restrictions on our daily lives and routines. January has been particularly hard with the poor weather and dark days, so finding positive ways to spend your time can be difficult.

“We want to encourage the sharing of ideas to bring about positive changes for those who might be struggling with their mental or physical wellbeing at this time. A refocusing on the things we can still enjoy, which are not restricted, such as outdoor activities and solo sports, physically distanced meet ups with friends and new creative ideas and activities to explore will help support Islanders’ wellbeing.”

Organisations and charities have been co-ordinated by ConnectMe which signposts Islanders to information, help and support on a variety of practical, physical and emotional needs.
