Jersey students have continued to achieve a high percentage of passes in their GCSEs, with 86.0% of GCSEs were graded at 4-9 (C and above), and 36.0% at the highest grades: 7-9 (A/A*).
This means that Jersey students have achieved significantly higher than their UK counterparts, where 76.9% of GCSEs were graded at 4-9 (C and above), and 28.5% at 7-9 (A/A*).
This is the fifth year that pupils' results have combined the reformed GCSE qualifications, which are graded 9 to 1, with a range of International GCSE qualifications (iGCSEs), graded A*-U.
In line with the process for A-Level results, special arrangements for results have been put in place, after COVID led to the UK Government cancelling formal examinations. Instead of formal exams, students have had their results determined by teacher assessed grades. These grades have been determined based on coursework, mock exams and tests, as well as in-school assessments (for example, portfolios) where relevant. Jersey students also sat formal iGCSE examinations in November and January in both English and mathematics, achieving excellent results. These were also used by schools in finalising the teacher assessed grades for submission to the examination boards.

In addition, some pupils sat some iGCSEs which use the grading system A* - G (comparable data for England is not available).

Minister for Children and Education, Deputy Scott Wickenden, said:

"COVID-19 has caused disruption across the last two years of their GCSE studies, and it's a testament to their hard work and determination that they've continued to perform so well. I'd like to wish them all the best of luck in their next steps and remind them that if they're unsure what they'd like to do next, they should approach their teachers, careers advisors and parents for help and support."

Results day information
Schools or colleges have graded students based on the work they have completed as part of their courses. Students are only assessed on the subject content they have been taught.
Grades have been subject to several levels of checking. After being determined by teachers, they have been agreed by the relevant head of department and the headteacher. Following this, exam boards have also completed quality assurance checks.
This system means that grades are expected to be fair and accurate. However, students who wish to appeal can follow the standards appeals process and should contact their school or college for more information.
