Subsidies for home energy audits are available to all homeowners as part of Jersey’s Climate Conversation, the island-wide discussion on how Jersey should tackle climate change.
This week, week two of the conversation has aimed to raise awareness on how to heat homes effectively. A home energy audit is a survey used to gauge how much energy a home uses and to present a series of personalised recommendations to make energy more efficient and cost-effective.
Colin Russell, of Russel Surveying Services, one of the trained auditors who conducts the audits said: “A home energy audit is a great place to start when it comes to improving heating a home. There’s no obligation for homeowners to take the personalised advice we provide but for many the audit is a useful guide to plan long-term investments in the home.”
As part of the Climate Conversation islanders are being encouraged to find out what they need to do to improve their home heating. Islanders who book audits over the next few weeks will receive draught-proofing tape, suitable for wooden doors and windows.
