Tomorrow (Wednesday 13 July) the Chief Minister, Deputy Kristina Moore, and newly elected Minister for Children and Education, Deputy Inna Gardiner, will visit La Petite École and Springfield School to discuss investment in early years education, and school meals.
On their first Ministerial visit, Deputy Moore and Deputy Gardiner will speak to children and staff about the importance of early years education, as well as the affordability of childcare for working families.
At La Petite École, the Chief Minister and Minister for Children and Education will speak to staff and visit the baby room and catering facilities. While at Springfield School, the Chief Minister and Minister for Children and Education will meet with early years teachers and students and discuss the support available for children and families.
They will also visit the site of the new school servery, which will be providing school meals from September 2022.
Chief Minister, Deputy Kristina Moore, said: "The new Government will prioritise support for families by ensuring that early years education is well-resourced and accessible to all.
"This support will benefit our whole community. Good quality early years education will improve children's educational outcomes later in life and allow them to develop into the highly-skilled adults we need to be successful in the future."
Minister for Children and Education, Deputy Inna Gardiner said: "The previous Government - through the Early Years Policy Development Board - did put additional focus and funding into Early Years, but we must deliver all the recommendations. I plan to action the remaining recommendations as soon as possible and will seek the additional funding required to maintain progress.
"My aim is to ensure that all children have access to the high-quality education they need to thrive."
