Jersey welcomed a visit by the Ambassador of Thailand to the Court of St James', His Excellency Mr. Pisanu Suvanajata, the weekend of Friday 29 April to Sunday 1 May.
The Ambassador's first visit to the Island centred around the cordial links that exist between the two jurisdictions and included a full itinerary of meetings focusing on different ways to grow the links between Jersey and Thailand more broadly.
His Excellency was hosted by the Lieutenant Governor, His Excellency Air Chief Marshal Sir Stephen Dalton, at Government House. During his time in the Island, the Ambassador also attended a dinner with the Island's Bailiff, Timothy Le Cocq, the Chief Minister, Senator John Le Fondré, and the Minister for External Relations and Financial Services Senator Ian Gorst.
The Ambassador's visit also gave an opportunity for consular services to be provided to Jersey's Thai community, which the recent census showed to be over 250.
His Excellency and his team spent time with representatives from various Government departments and also visited the Maritime Museum to understand more about Jersey's seafaring history as well as paying a timely visit to the Occupation Tapestry Gallery.
