25 November 2022
The International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women on 25 November 2022 marked the start of
16 days of activism against gender-based violence.
Any woman and girl, anywhere, can be affected by violence and Islanders are asked to take part in
a call for evidence where they can share their stories.
This will help a VAWG (Violence Against Women and Girls) Taskforce understand the scale of the
problem in Jersey.
To do this, Islanders are asked to visit Gov.je/VAWG where they can:
- Share Your Story – help us understand the impacts of VAWG and your recommendations
for change
- Use the Safety Heatmap – to identify public spaces where you have felt unsafe in Jersey
- Complete the survey – tell us what you think about VAWG in Jersey
There will be a major campaign across Jersey on the 16 days of activism, which will contain details
of the importance of tackling VAWG and how to get involved.
The VAWG Taskforce has been set-up to raise visibility of the issue and make recommendations to
Government on actions needed to prevent VAWG.
