Christmas care packages will be delivered to hospital patients who are unable to go home over the festive period.
The gifts will be distributed by volunteers to Jersey General Hospital patients and those at the adult acute mental health ward, Orchard House.
The volunteers are part of a group called the Community Connectors, who aim to reduce isolation and loneliness. They represent a number of small charities and community groups, including Skatespace and Kairos Arts. Organisations such as Jersey Sport, Andium and Call and Collect are also involved, along with various religious groups.
The Chief Nurse at Jersey General Hospital, Jessie Marshall believes it is a wonderful initiative.
She said: “We're delighted to welcome the Community Connectors into the hospital. Their gifts will bring a bit of extra Christmas cheer to patients over the festive period.
“Our staff are amazing and try to make Christmas as special as possible for those who can't go home. However, knowing others are also thinking about them is very special."
The care packages include festive socks, a puzzle, toothbrush, toothpaste, flannel, and a handwritten Christmas card.
