From Saturday 2 September, the hospital pharmacy will close to outpatients at
weekends.
The closure, which is expected to have very little impact to the public,
follows a review of pharmacy use.
Pharmacy services for inpatients will continue to be provided during the weekends.
The pharmacy for outpatients will operate Monday to Friday, 9am-5pm to ensure
patients can still collect their prescriptions.
Community GP prescriptions are not affected as these are processed in a different way
to hospital prescriptions.
Chief Pharmacist, Debbie O’Driscoll, said: “I would like to reassure Islanders, that this
change we are making shouldn’t majorly affect patients as outpatient clinics are not
routinely held at the weekend. It will also help the pharmacy focus on providing a
service to our inpatient population.
“Patients will still be able to collect their prescriptions during the working week and
our inpatient pharmacy service will remain unchanged. I would like to apologise for
any inconvenience caused to Islanders.’
