Insights published on COVID-19 vaccinations and positive PCR tests using administrative data

08 December 2023

Statistics Jersey have today released a report providing insight on COVID-19 vaccinations and positive PCR tests across the three years from 2020 to 2022.

Vaccinations

Across all persons aged 12 years and over who were resident in Jersey throughout 2020 and 2021:

  • 87% were vaccinated with first and second doses
  • Some of the lowest proportions vaccinated with first and second doses were:
      • households made up of single parents with dependent children (65%)
      • those who self-reported their ethnicity as Romanian (60%) or Polish (64%) in the 2021 census
      • younger age groups, with the lowest proportions being for 12 to 15 year-olds (52%)
  •  Some of the highest proportions vaccinated with first and second doses were:
      • those in professional occupations (93%)
      • those who self-reported their ethnicity as White British (93%) or Asian (94%) in the 2021 census
      • older age groups, with the highest proportions being for those aged 65+ (96%)

PCR tests

Across all persons aged 12 years and over who were resident in Jersey throughout 2020 and 2021:

  • 53% of people had tested positive for COVID-19 on a PCR test at least once between 2020 and 2022
  • Some of the lowest proportions that tested positive on a PCR test were:
      • those unemployed and not looking for a job (44%)
      • those off work due to sickness (37%)
      • those retired from work (34%)
  • Some of the highest proportions that tested positive on a PCR test were:
      • households made up of parents with dependent children (68%)
      • those employed in caring, leisure and other service occupations (70%)
      • children aged 12 to 15 (72%)

Statistics Jersey have produced these statistics using administrative data (data that is already held by government for running public services). Administrative data is relatively current and wide-ranging and, when linked together, can provide useful insights into the uptake of public services such as vaccination programs.
