Eligible Islanders are invited to receive their autumn booster to ensure they are best
protected over the winter months.
Those who are aged over 75 will be able to book an appointment from Tuesday 5
September with appointments available from Tuesday 12 September.
Islanders who can receive the autumn booster include:
- Care home residents and staff
• all adults aged 65 years and over
- persons aged 6 months to 64 years in a clinical risk group
- health and care workers
- persons aged 12 to 64 years who are household contacts of people with
immunosuppression
- persons aged 16 to 64 years who are carers
Bookings are being opened in priority group order to ensure the most vulnerable can
receive their vaccine. All other eligible Islanders, which include those aged 65-74, will be
able to book from Tuesday 19 September with appointments available from Tuesday 26
September.
Director of Public Health, Professor Peter Bradley, said: “It’s hugely important that
those eligible for the autumn booster book their vaccine to ensure they are best
protected over winter. Vaccination remains the best way to protect yourselves and
others against COVID-19 and protects against severe disease which is more likely with
increasing age.
“We are closely monitoring the new variant, and although there are no concerns as
yet, it could contribute to an increased risk of infection. I encourage those eligible to
book at gov.je/wintervaccines as soon as possible.”
