St Lawrence School has been reviewed as part of the Jersey Schools Review Framework.
The full report, which is available online, was completed following a visit to the school over three
days in late September, led by an experienced off-Island reviewer.
During the review, the team visited all year groups, including the nursery and reception classes.
They also sampled pupils’ work, heard pupils read, met with small groups of students, and
observed lessons, lunchtimes, and play. The views of parents and staff were also considered.
Headteacher of St Lawrence School, Amory Charlesworth, said: “I am delighted that the review
recognises the dedication of our pupils and staff and their commitment to keep improving.
“I would like to thank all the staff who have worked closely with me and with the senior leadership
team to promote a positive learning environment for all pupils. The school review was a
professional and rigorous process and I thank the team for their carefully considered
recommendations. I look forward to building on our progress so far.”
The Jersey Schools Review Framework was piloted across Government schools from 2016–2019.
After a pause during COVID, review visits have restarted and will continue throughout the 2023–
2024 academic year.
Reviews take place every three years and consider the environment in the school, the standards of
learning, teaching and achievement, the behaviour and personal development of pupils, and the
effectiveness of school leadership.
