Parks and Play Areas
Coronation Park (Millbrook) and Howard Davis Park both remain closed because of the damage caused by last week's storm. These parks and their play areas were badly hit, especially at Coronation Park.
Parents of children using any other open play areas around the Island are encouraged to check that nearby trees, or those overhanging the park, don't have broken branches suspended in them.
Railway Walk
The Railway Walk is still closed due to fallen trees, overhanging branches, and dangerous debris. Infrastructure and Environment (I&E) is planning work to clear the large trees, which will rely on specialist equipment from the UK arriving this weekend.
The public are reminded not to visit the Railway Walk until further notice.
Displaced Islanders
Most displaced Islanders who were being supported by Government have either moved back to their homes after repairs to their properties have been completed, or into further temporary accommodation whilst longer term repairs are made. They are now being supported through their insurance company or landlord.
Schools
Work on Hautlieu School has been ongoing over the week, although the adverse weather conditions have hindered work. Staff from the school; Children, Young People, Education and Skills (CYPES); and Jersey Property Holdings will assess any outstanding damage over the weekend and confirm arrangements for next week. Parents of affected students have already been contacted directly by the school.
La Collette
The Household Recycling and Household Green Waste sites at La Collette are expected to be particularly busy over the weekend.
