Roads:
Teams from Infrastructure and Environment (I&E) made significant progress over the weekend, clearing main roads, school routes, and double decker bus routes.
Highway inspectors are out with forestry and structural engineers looking at hazards, on, above, and beside roads. The biggest concern currently is caught branches, unstable trees, and walls.
Islanders are asked to not to dump their debris around the Island, including the front of pumping stations, as this is blocking important access needed to ensure maintenance of drains.
Landowners are asked to ensure they inspect their properties for damage, especially where it could cause a hazard to the public, such as private roadside trees which are the landowner's responsibility.
Coastal Pathways:
Many countryside and coastal sites and footpaths have also been surveyed by the Natural Environment team. Branches are hanging from trees, and fallen trees and soil damage from roots remain a risk.
Government advice remains that people should avoid using countryside and coastal paths, where possible. Islanders are asked not to go beyond the barrier tape that has been used to close off some of these areas.
Planning and Building advice:
Planning and Building duty services have extended their operating hours to 9am to 5pm, Monday to Friday.
Islanders can get advice on what may or may not need planning and building permission by calling 01534 445508 or visiting a duty officer at Customer and Local Services. Alternatively, Islanders can email photos and the address of the property to planning@gov.je and buildingcontrol@gov.je.

La Collette:
The Commercial Green Waste site is busy supporting large deliveries. I&E teams are prioritising this and the Household Green Waste and Household Recycling sites are closed, as is normal, on Mondays and Tuesdays.
