The Minister for Home Affairs, Deputy Helen Miles, is hosting a delegation from Rangsit University,
Thailand, on 24 and 25 February.
The visitors are coming to Jersey to learn more about
Jersey’s policing systems and particularly the role of the Honorary Police and the Parish Hall
Enquiry.
They will explore how the informal justice system might be adapted to operate in areas of Thailand,
and particularly how our honorary and States Police work together.
They will also meet with representatives of the Honorary Police, the States of Jersey Police, the
Probation and Aftercare Service and the Attorney General.
The delegation will be led by Lt Col Dr Krisanaphong Poothakool, a senior officer in the Royal Thai
Police and Associate Professor at Rangsit University, Thailand.
The visit will form part of an academic research project being undertaken by a PhD candidate living
in Thailand who is originally from Jersey.
Deputy Miles said: “I am very pleased to welcome the delegation. This is a really exciting
opportunity to form a meaningful partnership with colleagues in Thailand and an excellent
showcase for Jersey’s historic honorary policing system”
