In response to the significant disruption expected from Storm Ciarán later tonight and into Thursday 2 November, Jersey's Strategic Coordination Group (SCG) is to escalate to 'Major Incident' status from midnight tonight (Wednesday 1 November).
A multi-agency Situation Room has been set-up at States of Jersey Police Headquarters to help co-ordinate the response and will be operational from midnight.
This is usual procedure in these circumstances and is a result of thorough planning and preparations across all emergency services, partner agencies and Government of Jersey who are ready to support Jersey residents.
Islanders are advised to stay at home and to only travel if it is essential or if they are essential workers.
Advice about travel, disruption to services, and how to stay safe will be shared on the social media channels of the Government of Jersey and States of Jersey Police.
Islanders are advised to check the Jersey Met Office forecast for any weather changes on gov.je/weather
