The Minister for Housing and Communities, Deputy David Warr, has published an update on the work of the Empty Homes Service, following its launch earlier this year.
Empty Homes Service update report
The Empty Homes Service provides guidance to owners of empty homes, and works with the community to identify where empty properties exist and what should be done to bring them back into use. The service launched in January and has since had 260 cases reported, representing 29% of the 900 homes estimated to be vacant in Jersey.
The report published today includes: details of the Empty Homes Service's activities in its first six months; location and characteristics of properties that have been reported to the service; an assessment of current housing market activity; and a status update on all the actions committed to within the 'Action on Vacant Properties' plan.
To report an empty home or request advice, Islanders should continue to visit Empty Homes Service.
