Grouville School has been reviewed as part of the Jersey Schools Review Framework.
A team of four reviewers visited the school over five days in late June. The team was made up of an
independent external lead reviewer, who has experience in conducting reviews in other
jurisdictions, a Senior Adviser from the Department for Children, Young People, Education and
Skills (CYPES) and senior school leaders currently working in Jersey schools.
During the review, the review team visited lessons across all year groups; sampled pupils’ work and
heard pupils read; met with small groups of pupils; and observed lessons and lunchtimes.
Headteacher of Grouville School, Nichola Turner, said: “I am thrilled that the review highlights the
commitment of pupils and staff to ‘always be the best you can be,’ in line with our school mission
statement.
“I would like to thank all the staff who have worked closely with me and with the senior leadership
team to create a positive learning experience for all our pupils. The school review was a rigorous
and robust process and I would like to thank the team for their professionalism and
recommendations. I look forward to continuing our journey and building on our progress.”
The Jersey Schools Review Framework was piloted across Government schools from 2016 – 2019.
After a pause during COVID, review visits have restarted this academic year.
Reviews take place every three years and consider the environment in the school, the standards of
learning, teaching and achievement, the behaviour and personal development of pupils, and the
effectiveness of school leadership.
